Lac Waswanipi is a lake in the regional county town of Jamésie ( North du Québec administrative region ) in the Canadian province of Québec .
The lake is located about 80 km southeast of Lac Matagami and 20 km southeast of Lac au Goéland . All three lakes lie on the course of the Rivière Waswanipi and belong to the catchment area of the Rivière Nottaway . The Rivière Waswanipi has its inflow and outflow at the northern end of the lake. Lac Pusticamica , 13 km to the south, is drained via the Rivière O'Sullivan to Lac Waswanipi.
The lake has roughly the shape of the letter J. Lac Waswanipi is 35 km long and up to 11 km wide. The water area is 205 km².
