Ladell McLin

Ladell McLin (* in Chicago ) is an American blues musician from New York .

Life

Ladell McLin grew up in the south of Chicago and comes from a musical family, born to Marsha McLin and the jazz drummer Lamont Braswell, who played for Muddy Waters and Howlin 'Wolf . His grandfather was the jazz trumpeter Woodrow Braswell and played for Billie Holiday and his cousin is Marshall Thompson, a founding member of the Chi-Lites .

Ladell McLin himself began making music at the age of eleven. With his brother, the drummer Andre Cotton, who also taught him to play the drums, he played his first concerts in Chicago. He himself learned to play the guitar. This was followed by appearances at the Chicago Blues Festival and the Checkerboard Lounge event.

He played for / together with Buddy Guy's Legends (1997-1999), Buddy Miles , Vernon Reid , Paul Schafer, John Primer , for Darryl McDaniels aka "DMC" ( Run-DMC ) and others. He performed at the New York Apollo Theater , at the Montreux Jazz Festival with Carlos Santana , BB King and Robert Randolph and at the Paris Sons d'hiver Jazz Festival . There were other collaborations with Koko Taylor and Johnny Guitar Watson . McLin can also be heard on James Blood Ulmer's Grammy- nominated album Memphis Blood: The Sun Sessions .
