Ladoeiro is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Idanha-a-Nova . 1290 inhabitants live in it (as of June 30, 2011).

history

Finds prove the settlement at the time of the Roman occupation. Until 1505 the place was probably called Esporão , before it was repopulated from 1541 and has since been known as Ladoeiro ( German :).

Culture and sights

The public fountain and the Igreja da Misericórdia church , both from the 16th century, are listed buildings, along with three other buildings.

economy

Ladoeiro is located in the structurally weak border region with Spain, but is considered a dynamic municipality in the Idanha-a-Nova district. Agriculture (especially tobacco, melons, tomatoes), processing industry, and tourism (especially hunting and nature tourism) should be mentioned here.
