Lady Gray from Joubert's Pass

Lady Gray is a city in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa . It is the seat of the Senqu Community in Joe Gqabi District .
The place is 54 kilometers east of Aliwal North and near the border with Lesotho at the foot of the Witteberge , which frame the place from north, east and south. The place has 1,395 inhabitants (2011 census). The township of Khwezinaledi lies in the southwest.
Lady Gray was founded on the grounds of the Waaihoek Farm in 1857 and named after Eliza Lucy Gray, wife of the Cape Colony Governor Sir George Gray . In 1893 the place received municipal status.
In the center of the village is a Dutch Reformed church from the 19th century.
Lady Gray is located near the R58 road that connects Aliwal North to Elliot in the southeast. Another road leads north to Sterkspruit . Lady Gray is located on the former Aliwal North – Barkly East railway line .
