Russula subsect. Laetinae is a subsection of the genus Russula , which is in Bon within the Russulinae sectionand Romagnesi within the Coccinae section. The subsection was originally defined by Romagnesi. His taxon of the same name also contains species that are in Bon in the subsections Auratinae , Integroidinae and Laeticolorinae .

The subsection mostly contains medium-sized species, the hat color of which is more or less vivid reddish, orange or brick-colored. In rare cases, however, the hat can be almost dirty wine-colored or only yellow or yellowish and have more or less pink tones. The meat has no characteristic smell. It tastes mild and there are no macrochemical reactions typical of the subsection. The spore powder is yellow ( IV (a) b according to Romagnesi or darker).

The cap skin contains more or less encrusted pileocystids or hyphae . Their contents are often acid-proof or stained with sulfovanillin.
