Russula subsect. Integroidinae is a subsection of the genus Russula , which is within the section Lilaceae . The taxon was first defined by Romagnesi, but only validly described by Bon.
features
The representatives of the subsection are medium-sized or large species with a hat diameter of up to 13 cm. The hat is very variable in color, often purple, lavender or greenish, but never pure red or yellow. The taste is mild, but can be sharp in the lamellae and the stem bark. The flesh and stem sometimes tend to gray or blacken. The spore powder is pale ocher yellow.
The spores are thorny to prickly and sometimes reticulate or almost burr-free. The upper layer of the cuticle ( epicutis ) does not contain any dermatocystids , but rather narrow primordial hyphae , hardly more than 5 µm wide and elongated at the ends . Dermatocystiden can be detected in the subcutis. The stem or the meat of the hat contain milk ducts ( laticifers ) that can be stained with sulfobenzaldehyde.
- The type species is Russula sericatula , the weakly reacting deaf .
