Moor lake |
The Lagh de Pian Doss ( Lombard in the Ticino dialect, Italian Lago Dosso ) is a postglacial moor lake in the south of the village of San Bernardino in the municipality of Mesocco in the canton of Graubünden . It lies in a small peat hollow that is registered in the federal inventory of the federal high moors.
The almost circular lake is fed by a stream that flows down west of Alp Pian Doss and two other tributaries in the north. The outflow is in the northwest. The nameless stream flows north towards San Bernardino and flows into the Lago d'Isola reservoir after around one kilometer .
The lake reaches its maximum depth of around 6 meters in the middle. Thanks to the sufficient oxygen available down to a depth of 5 meters, the Lagh de Pian Doss offers a habitat for several fish species. The most numerous are rudd , tench and pike . Trout , which are otherwise often found in the Alpine region, do not exist here. All species reproduce naturally.
The lake reaches a temperature of almost 20 degrees in summer and is quite suitable for swimming. The hotel-restaurant, built in the 1970s, stood empty for many years. In summer 2019 it was reopened as "Hotel Restaurant Lido".
