The Lago Pantano ( Italian for mud lake ) is a 90 m long, 70 m wide and a maximum of 4 m deep sea at the Borchgrevink coast of the east Antarctic Victoria Land . It is 12 km east-northeast of the summit of Mount Melbourne and 2 km north-northwest of Edmonson Point . The north bank is covered with numerous mosses and lichens . It is fed by the meltwater from the eastern slopes of Mount Melbourne and has a drain to the Ross Sea .
Vittorio Libera examined the lake during an Italian Antarctic expedition carried out from 1988 to 1989 and named it.
