The Mergozzo is a small Alpenrandsee near the Lago Maggiore in Italy.

The lake measures about 2.6 kilometers from northwest to southeast and about 1 kilometer from southwest to northeast. It is located in the Fondotoce nature reserve and is considered to be one of the cleanest lakes in Europe. In order to protect the high quality of the sea water, a ban on motor boats was issued in 1995. The lake's local mountain is called Monte Orfano (794 m). For several years the lake was an insider tip for tourists looking for peace and quiet. Through various activities on the part of the municipality of Mergozzo , tourism has developed quite strongly in recent years. For tourists there are three campsites around the lake ("La Quiete", "Continental", "Lago della fate"), as well as various hotels and albergos in Mergozzo.

Since there is only one street on the northern side of the lake, Via Pallanza , it is very busy. The eastern part is completely overgrown with reeds and the Domodossola – Milan railway runs here, but mostly through a tunnel. From this side there is also a small canal around 3 kilometers long at Fondotoce in Lake Maggiore. The area between the two lakes is alluvial land , since Lake Mergozzo and Lake Maggiore were originally connected and were only separated from each other in the 9th century by the construction of a dam in Sesto Calende (southern part of Lake Maggiore). The next bigger town is Gravellona Toce , better known are Verbania (8 km) and Stresa (12 km).
