Data on the structure |
The Lago di Val di Noci (in German: "Lake of the Nut Valley") is a reservoir in the Italian region of Liguria . It is located in the Ligurian Apennines in the metropolitan city of Genoa on the territory of the municipality of Montoggio .
The lake was created by the damming of the Rio delle Noci (in German: "Nussbach"), which forms the Scrivia river near Montoggio . The dam was built in the 1920s with the aim of securing the drinking water supply for the regional capital, Genoa .
The lake was populated by carp until 1999, but as part of a routine emptying of the reservoir, they were relocated to the Laghi del Gorzente , the Lago della Busalletta and the Lago del Brugneto . The provincial administration and the operator Azienda Mediterranea delle Acque are currently making efforts to repopulate the lake.
