Lake Tarachine ( Japanese た ら ち ね 池 Tarachine-ike , German 'mother pond ' , Kunrei transcription Taratine-ike ) is a small lake on the East Ongul Island off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located between Lake Minami and Lake Kamome in the southern part of the island.
Measurements and aerial photographs from 1957 of a Japanese Antarctic expedition carried out from 1957 to 1962 , as a result of which the naming was made, were used for mapping. The American Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred this designation into English in 1968 according to the Hepburn system .
