The Lake Vermilion (also Vermilion Lake ) is a lake in the US state of Minnesota and around 26 kilometers west of Ely area.
The lake has an area of 159 km² and a length of 39 km. There are 365 islands in the lake. In the 1940s, it was voted one of the top ten most scenic lakes in the United States by the National Geographic Society .
Lake Vermilion, in the heart of Minnesota's Arrowhead Region, is a major fishing area.
