Lamar is a city in western Missouri. It is the county seat of Barton County and the hometown of former US President Harry S. Truman , who was born here in 1884. Also gunslinger Wyatt Earp (1848-1929) lived here for some time with his first wife Urilla Sutherland.

According to the US census of 2010, the population is 4532, the population density is around 341.8 inhabitants / km². About 96% of the population are white. The area is around 14 km², of which 5.7% is covered by water.
