Lameck Aguta
Lameck Aguta (born October 10, 1971 ) is a Kenyan marathon runner .
In 1992 he was fourth at the World Half Marathon Championships 1992 (English: 1st IAAF World Half Marathon Championships) in Newcastle upon Tyne (1:00:55 h). At the 2nd Half Marathon World Championships on October 3, 1993 in Brussels, he finished fourth with a time of 1:01:15 h.
In 1994 he was third in the Berlin Marathon in 2:10:41 h. In 1995 he finished fourth at the Boston Marathon , and the following year with his best time of 2:10:03 h. In the 1996 Olympic Games marathon in Atlanta , he finished 52nd.
In 1997 he won the Boston Marathon. In July of the same year, he was robbed after a car accident by four police officers who had noticed that he had a large amount of cash in his car and was critically injured. He was in a coma for three months and was then only able to regain his mobility with difficulty, although walking was initially out of the question.
After doing longer runs again in 2000, he ran a test marathon in 2:30 hours at the end of 2004 and trained over the winter to try a comeback at the Boston Marathon, which however did not succeed.
