Lameiro is a white wine variety . It is grown in the northern Portuguese regions of Douro , Minho and Beira Litoral. In the Spanish region of Galicia , it is known as Branco de Lama . The variety is also approved for Vinho Verde , but is only grown in the area around Ponte da Barca .

The low-yield varieties yields unmixed expanded neutral and rather unbalanced white wines , which are for blending are suitable with other varieties.

The grape variety Lameiro is also known under the names Branco da Lama, Branco Lameiro, Lameira, Lameiras, Lameirinho, Luzidia, Luzidio, Molarinha or Molarinho.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is very hairy, whitish and has a carmine tinge. The yellow young leaves are hairy with white wool and spotted bronze.
  • The medium-sized leaves (see also the article leaf shape ) are five-lobed to seven-lobed and deeply indented. The stem bay is closed in a V-shape. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are medium-sized compared to the grape varieties. The leaf surface (also called blade) is hardly blistered.
  • The cone-shaped grape is usually shouldered, medium-sized and moderately dense. The elliptical, short berries are medium-sized and yellowish-green in color. The peel of the juicy berry is thin.
