Lance Davids (born April 11, 1985 in Cape Town ) is a South African football player and national player of his country , who is currently under contract with Lierse SK in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League .
Career
Davids was discovered in 2004 at the age of 18 by former South African national coach Stuart Baxter . In 2001 he moved from Hellenic FC to the U-19 department at TSV 1860 Munich . For the 2004/05 season he rose to the professional team, but did not make the breakthrough there. He made his Bundesliga debut in the derby against Bayern when he came on for Harald Cerny . On his debut, he set a new club record as the youngest player at the age of 18 and 225 days. He was 17 days younger than the previous record holder Helmut Roth . After Delron Buckley (Bochum) and Bradley Carnell (Gladbach), Rowan Hendricks (Frankfurt), Glenn Jordens (Darmstadt) and the later Germanized Sean Dundee (KSC, Stuttgart), Davids was the sixth South African in the Bundesliga.
In January 2006 he moved to Sweden and played for Djurgårdens IF until 2008 . He returned to South Africa in early 2009, primarily to secure a place on the national team. Initially he was on the ball for SuperSport United , but went to Ajax Cape Town after just six months .
For the 2010/2011 season, he moved to Europe again. He signed a contract in Belgium with Lierse SK .
National team
His first international match was against Australia on March 30, 2004.
