history

State Horticultural Show 2004 in Wolfsburg Castle Park

The part to the south of the castle was built at the end of the 17th century when the former "Wolfsburg" was transformed into a representative castle. The baroque pleasure garden was laid out at the beginning of the 18th century . It was first mentioned in 1709; In 1723 a two-storey summer house was built , on the site of which a pavilion, which still exists today, was built in 1912. The architect was the Fallersleber Wilhelm Hillendahl. The landscape park east of the castle was created in the 19th century.

From 1948 to 1954, the “Schloßpark-Restaurant und Café” was located in the pavilion of the baroque garden, in front of which there were dancing parties on Sundays. In 2000 the baroque garden was restored. In 2004 the state horticultural show took place in the park area and south of it . The park area was expanded to the current border to the south. Three circular gardens with stainless steel elements were created , which were preserved after the state horticultural show.
