The wayside shrine in Hörblach

The so-called Vitus picture stick is located in Hörblach , a district of Schwarzach am Main . He stands in front of the Vitus Church on Kitzinger Strasse.

history

The wayside shrine was erected in 1618. An inscription in the lower part of the essay names the founder: "In 1618 Keller Peter Müller Schultheis and a community erect this torture to honor God and his most holy mother." Other people are mentioned on the back. The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation classifies the wayside shrine under the number D-6-75-165-23 as an architectural monument.

The torture can be assigned to the Renaissance . The square column protrudes from a rectangular base . It leads over to the wayside shrine. Below you can see a putto surrounded by two volutes . The inscription can be seen above. A scene of the martyrdom of St. Vitus follows. Two pilasters limit the representation. On the back you can see the Pietà . A sandstone cross towers over the wayside shrine.
