State Police Headquarters (Hesse)

The State Police Headquarters (LPP), as a department of the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Sports, has been performing the tasks of the highest police authority since January 1, 2001. The state police president in Hesse was Udo Münch until July 14, 2020 . On July 16, 2020, the Chief of Police of the Southeast Hesse Police Department, Roland Ullmann, was introduced as the new State Police President by the Hessian Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU) .

Until 2001 the LPP was run as Department III in the Ministry. The detachment provides the LPP as head authority of the country police force for seven area councils ( Frankfurt am Main , Central Hesse , North Hesse , Osthessen , South Hesse , Southeast Hesse , West Hesse ), the Hessian riot police bureau , the Hessian State Office of Criminal Investigation , the Hessian Police Academy and the Bureau of Engineering, Logistics and Administration .

This development enables a clear strategic and conceptual orientation to improve public safety for the citizens of the state of Hesse. The State Police Headquarters performs the following tasks:

• Policy matters of the police
• Service and technical supervision of the subordinate police stations
• Organization of the police
• Police budget
• Police personnel and law
• Situation center of the Hessian state government

The LPP manages an annual financial volume of over 1 billion euros (2009: 1,127,258,000 €, plus 24,234,000 € for the Hessian Police School)
