The regional association of regional church communities of Saxony is part of the Evangelical Gnadauer Community Association and extends over Saxony and some parts of Eastern Thuringia in the districts of Greiz and Altenburg .

Work areas

The work areas are divided into evangelism service , the EC youth association , work in the middle generation, senior citizens and women’s work. The heart of the community work is the Bible study . Further branches of work are the singing and string playing service as well as the trombone union and the service for the disabled. The basis for all branches of work is the Bible . The Blue Cross work (in the GDR era AGAS. Working group to ward off addiction risks ) is one of the tasks of the regional church community . The association has 2000 honorary and 85 full-time employees.

history

The roots of the regional church communities go back to Martin Luther and Philipp Jacob Spener , who encouraged the formation of house groups , in order to deal intensively with the word of the Bible in addition to church services . Here every Christian could contribute his knowledge and experiences. Spener is also known as the father of Pietism .

The Saxon Community Association was founded on December 27, 1899 in Chemnitz. The foundation was preceded by both Gnadau conferences, named after the place where they first met, and Saxon meetings, also known as the “Christmas Conference”. Decisive impulses also came from the Evangelical Reichsbrüderbund , of which Johannes Seitz was one of the founders , from the Inner Mission and the Moravian Brethren .

Today the association works at 386 locations in Central Germany.
