The regional association of the historical-cultural associations of Saarland (LHV) is the umbrella organization of currently 44 history and local history associations from all parts of the state. It was founded on November 7, 2004 in Saarbrücken as a platform for exchange and cooperation between member associations.
tasks and goals
The aim of the association is to coordinate and network the work of the local associations and to help them effectively in researching and documenting the national and local history, customs, dialect and the existing monuments . According to the statutes of the association, close cooperation is to be carried out with the relevant specialist authorities in Saarland, for example the State Monuments Office , the State Archives , the Institute for Regional Studies or the specialist institutes of the university. Local researchers are also to be trained in deciphering old documents and supported in the publication of their research results, in exhibitions, in setting up archives and in press and public relations work.
A founding resolution passed unanimously states that the joint work could be of great benefit far beyond the association, not only to add a few new facets to the image of the Saarland and its residents, but also as a basis for the development of modern tourism concepts.
Publications
Since the end of 2005, the LHV has been publishing the new historical magazine "saargeschichte / n" every quarter with the historical association for the Saar region .
In addition, the LHV is participating in the development of an internet portal for regional history, which is being developed under the direction of the Institute for Historical Regional Studies at the University of Mainz .
