The Landfried (Czech Landfrýd ) was a peace union founded in 1440 of East Bohemian nobles.

history

After the death of the Bohemian King Albrecht II. In 1439, on March 17, 1440, East Bohemian aristocrats formed a state peace union. It included the old Bohemian districts of Königgrätz , Chrudim , Kaurim and Čáslav to the east of Prague .

The aim and purpose of the peace association was to stabilize the political situation and to achieve peaceful coexistence, which was to be achieved through the persecution and elimination of robber barons and other criminal attacks such as street robbery, feuds and looting. The Landfried was headed by Hynek Ptáček von Pirkstein . He was the custodian of the Bohemian royal cities as well as the highest court and mint master in Bohemia and was one of the opponents of King Albrecht II. In 1441, Hynek Kruschina von Lichtenburg , pledger of the Kłodzko Land, also joined the Landfried. In the same year a coalition of the Landfried, the city of Prague and the old Bohemian circles was formedPilsen and Prachiner district as well as the Silesians and besieged the East Bohemian possessions of the former Taborite captain Jan Kolda von Žampach , who was a notorious robber baron. Presumably after Hynek Ptáček's death in 1444, the Landfried was dissolved.
