Landsorts fyr stands on a rock at the southern tip of Landsort . Naval artillery rifles from the Second World War are a cultural and historical document of the island's exposed location in the Swedish archipelago.

Landsort is the name of the southern tip and the main settlement on the Swedish archipelago island of Öja .

Most of the islanders traditionally worked as pilots for merchant shipping in the waters off Nynäshamn and Stockholm . Despite the small number of inhabitants, there are various associations in Landsort. The Landsorts föreningar care for good neighbors, and there is also the tenant / owner association Landsorts Arrendatorförening and the Landsorts Sjö- och MiljöCentrum (sea and environmental center).

At the southern tip is Landsorts fyr , the oldest still in use lighthouse in Sweden. It was commissioned and built by the Dutch merchant Johan van der Hagen in 1658. A ship class of the Swedish Navy is named after the beacon.

The Swedish sea rescue service Sjöräddningssällskapet SSRS always has at least one boat stationed in the port of Landsort.

In Bredmar, just north of Landsort, is country town fågelstation (the Ornithological Landsort ). Bird ringing began on the island as early as the 1970s, but the association that runs the station today wasn't founded until 1988. Especially during migration periods, volunteers ring birds with the rings of the Naturhistoriska riksmuseet in Stockholm.
