The Landwasser Tunnel is a 216 m long tunnel between the Landwasser Viaduct and Filisur train station on the Albula Line of the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula Alps . Around 60 trains pass through it every day, one of which is the famous Glacier Express .
The tunnel portal on the Landwasser Viaduct side is about three times higher than the tunnel opening and also serves as an abutment for the bridge.
The Landwasser Viaduct and the Landwasser Tunnel together describe an arc with a radius of 100 m and an angle of 156 ° up to the center of the tunnel. Then the tunnel turns into the opposite curve. The radius of the bridge and tunnel corresponds to the minimum curve radius of the Rhaetian Railway.
Less known, although about 12 times longer, is the Landwasser Tunnel of the same name, 5 kilometers away, for road traffic between Tiefencastel and Davos .
