Bremen Chamber of Agriculture

The Bremen Chamber of Agriculture (LWK) is an agricultural chamber in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen as a public corporation and self-governing body.

history

On April 28, 1849, the Chamber of Agriculture was founded in Bremen on the basis of a law . This was the first Chamber of Agriculture in Germany; The next one followed in Prussia in 1894. According to the constitution of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen of 1854, it was determined in Bremen that the election for citizenship should be made by men as citizens of Bremen in eight classes separated into scholars, merchants, tradespeople, farmers and other citizens from Bremen, Bremerhaven, Vegesack and the rural area. The farmers were in 7th grade. In 1854 there were 750 citizens who could vote for ten members. The board of directors of the chamber initially consisted of 20 farmers and two senators . In 1871 there was a chairman, his deputy, the accounting officer and legal advisor on the board. In 1898 an agricultural school was founded.

In 1919 the chamber bought the house Altenwall no. 16, which was destroyed in 1945. The allotment garden chamber and the horticultural chamber became a specialist department of the chamber in 1921. In April 1933 the allotment garden chamber and in October 1933 the chamber of agriculture were dissolved and they became part of the Reichsnährstand (RNST). In 1934, the Bremen district farming community was founded in the RNST, which also had its headquarters in Altenwall 16.

In 1945 the district peasantry continued to exist with its headquarters initially on Marcusallee; Andrée Bölken (later BDV, CDU), who was Senator for Nutrition in 1945/46, was appointed chairman . The Bremen Chamber of Agriculture Association was founded in 1948 . In 1956 the Bremen Chamber of Agriculture with the horticultural specialist chamber was re-established by law. Bölken was President of the Chamber of Agriculture until 1960. The chamber had shared offices with the Stadt und Leben association since 1964 . Senator Hermann Mester (SPD) was from 1956 to 1968: Vice-President of the Chamber of Agriculture. Hermann Borchers (CDU) and later Tölke Borchers (CDU) (around 1976 to 1996) were presidents of the Chamber of Agriculture.

The President of the Bremen Chamber of Agriculture is currently Ralf Hagens (as of 2017). The seat of the Chamber is in Bremen- Oberneuland , Johann-Neudoerffer-Straße No. 2 (as of 2017).
The chamber is a member of the Association of Chambers
of Agriculture .

tasks

The Chamber of Agriculture has the task of advising and informing farmers. This includes:

  • Economic advice for agricultural production in animal husbandry and arable farming
  • Advice on agricultural subsidy programs
  • Advice u. a. for retraining or farm tasks as well as the implementation of the EU agricultural reform
  • Area applications for grain, oilseeds, protein crops and compensatory allowances for disadvantaged areas
  • Advice on programs by the Senator for the Environment and the Senator for Economics and Ports
  • Supervision of practical vocational training in companies for horse breeding and husbandry
