Langaros ( Greek  Λάγγαρος ; † around 335 BC) was a prince of the Agrianes , an Illyrian or Thracian people.

After the Macedonian King Alexander the Great in 335 BC. He had waged a successful Balkan campaign against peoples in the area of the lower Danube on the way back to Macedonia that several Illyrian tribes had risen, such as Glaukias , prince of the Taulantier , in association with the Illyr prince Kleitos , as well as the people of the Autarians . Langarus, who had been friends with Alexander from his father Philip's lifetime , invaded the tribal areas of the Autarians on Alexander's behalf and thus tied their strengths. The Macedonian king was meanwhile able to defeat Glaukias and Kleitos at the Macedonian border fortress Pelion south of Lake Ohrid . As a reward for Langaros' support, Alexander wanted to marry him to his half-sister Kynane , who had previously been married to Amyntas IV , but Langaros died of illness immediately after his campaign before the marriage could be concluded.

The only source for Langaros' campaign and death is Arrian 1, 5, 1-5:

“Alexander now set out for the Agrian and the Peonian. Here messengers reached him with the news that Kleitos, Bartyli's son, had fallen away and that Glaukias, the king of the Taulantier, had joined him. These also stated that the autariats would attack him on the train. So he decided to move quickly. But Langaros, the prince of the Agrians, who had given unequivocal evidence of his devotion to Alexander during Philip's lifetime and also sent envoys to him in his own name, was at that time with his entourage of the most beautiful and best-armed shield-bearers with the army and had hardly any heard that Alexander was making inquiries about the Autariats, what kind of people there were and how many there were, when he told him: one shouldn't take into account the Autariats as the worst soldiers in this whole area; and he himself wanted to invade their country so that they would have more to think about themselves. Also, at Alexander's behest, he actually made an attack on them and had their country plundered. So the authorities had to deal with themselves. Langaros, however, received, among other honorable awards, gifts from Alexander, which a Macedonian king believed to be the highest. He even promised to marry his sister Kyna as soon as he came to Pella . However, Langaros died of an illness after his return home. "
