The takydromus ( Takydromus ), also called high speed lizards, a genus of the Real lizards (Lacertidae).
Appearance
The animals are extremely slim. The tail is two to five times longer than the body. Most of the time the lizards are brown in color, but some species also show strong green tones. The scales on the back are large, but very small on the flanks. They have enlarged lamellar scales on their toes. The end links of the toes are strongly curved.
Way of life
Within the genus a distinction is made between species that spend their lives mainly on the ground (e.g. T.amurensis , T. wolteri ) and those that climb higher vegetation areas ( T. sexlineatus , T. smaragdinus ).
The species of the genus Takydromus reproduce by laying eggs. The clutch size varies considerably depending on the species, habitat and vitality of the mother and ranges from one to two eggs in Takydromus smaragdinus to nine eggs in Takydromus wolteri .
Species from colder regions in particular often hibernate for several weeks.
distribution
They live in East Asia, in the Amur region , Japan , China , Indochina as far as Burma and Assam and the Malay Peninsula , and the large Indonesian islands of Sumatra , Kalimantan and Java .
