The Lansdowne Parish Church is a former parish church of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland in the Scottish city of Glasgow . In 1970 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists, initially in category B. In 1986 it was upgraded to the highest monument category A.

history

Construction of the church to a design by Scottish architect John Honeyman began in 1862 and was completed in December of the following year. The sculptures were created by John Mossman . The total cost was £ 12,400. In 1865, three stained glass windows designed by Ward and Hughes were installed in the apse . In 1873 additions were made. Originally built for the United Presbyterian Church of Scotland , the church became part of the Church of Scotland via mergers. The war memorial, made as a triptych , was designed by Evelyn Beale in 1923 . The windows of the transept were designed by Alfred Webster in 1913 and Gordon Webster in the 1950s.

Initially used as a parish church, the parish merged with the neighboring parish in the 2010s. The nearby Kelvin Stevenson Memorial Church was chosen as the parish church , making Lansdowne Parish Church obsolete. As early as 2010, when it was still in use, the building was included in the register of endangered listed buildings in Scotland. During an inspection in 2014, its condition was classified as relatively good with low risk.
