Lara Gillespie (born April 21, 2001 in Dublin ) is an Irish cyclist who is active in cyclo-cross races , on the track and in road cycling .

Athletic career

In 2017 Lara Gillespie became Irish junior champion in cyclo-cross racing. In the same year she won the silver medal in the individual time trial on the road at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Győr, Hungary .

In 2018, at the age of 16, Gillespie became the first Irish champion of the elite in cyclo-cross racing and started at the U23 Cyclocross World Championships , where she finished 28th. At the 2018 Junior European Railway Championships in Aigle , Switzerland , she won the points race . In the following year she became vice European junior champion in scratch , points race and single pursuit and finished third in the single pursuit at the Junior World Championships . She was also Irish runner-up in road racing .

2017 Lara Gillespie was the Irish Cycling Federation Irish Cycling with the Special Recognition Award honored.
