The East Timorese Laritame (also Monte Laritame ) is a Fatu , a mountain typical for the island of Timor with steep walls (hence Fatu Laritame ). It is located in Suco Builale ( Ossu Administrative Office , Viqueque municipality ).

geography

The mountain landscape consists of a few hundred hectares of mountain forest, agricultural fields and grassland. To the north are the sources of the Seiçal , one of the few rivers that also carry water all year round in the north of the country.

fauna

The Laritame belongs to the Important Bird Area of the neighboring Monte Mundo Perdido . A number of rare and endemic bird species can be found here, as well as other animals and rare orchids. Parachloritis laritame , one of the newly discovered land snail species known only from this region, was named after the mountain .
