Larry McKibben
Larry E. McKibben (born January 5, 1947 in Marshalltown , Iowa ) is an American lawyer and politician ( Republican Party ).
Life
McKibben attended Marshalltown High School . After finishing school in 1965, he studied at the University of Northern Iowa , where he received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1970 and continued his studies at the College of Law at the University of Iowa in Iowa City , where he received his Juris Doctor in 1972 . In 1973 he was admitted to the bar for the state of Iowa. In the same year he began practicing with a law firm in Marshalltown. In 1979 McKibben was admitted to the United States District Court Northern District of Iowa and the United States District Court Southern District of Iowa . Other approvals included the United States Tax Court in 1984 and the eighth district of the United States Court of Appeals in 1988.
McKibben is a member of the Iowa Bar Association , the Iowa State Bar Association, and has served on various committees. He was also president of the Marshall County Bar Association from 1986 to 1987 .
From 1997 to 2009, he served as a Senator in the Iowa Senate for three terms . He did not run in the 2008 elections. During his time as senator, he represented the 32nd district from 1997 to 2003, and then the 22nd district. In 2012 he ran in his party's primaries to nominate the Republican candidate for the 36th district in the upcoming Senate election, but was defeated by Jane Jech.
McKibben is married with two children, a son and a daughter.
