Lars Magnus Vågberg (born June 30, 1967 in Sollefteå , Sweden ) is a Norwegian curler and Olympic champion .

Life

Vågberg initially played for his native Sweden and took part in the European Championships in 1990 and 1994. He won the gold and silver medal. In 1992 he also took part in the World Cup and finished seventh.

From 1997 he played for Norway.

Vågberg took part in the World Championships in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2004 and 2005, but came away empty-handed. He won the bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships in Lausanne . A year later, at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , the Norwegian team beat the favorite Canadians in the final with Skip Kevin Martin and Vågberg became Olympic champion.

This was followed by a second place at the 2002 World Cup in Bismarck , a third place at the 2003 World Cup in Winnipeg and a third place at the 2004 European Championship in Sofia . At the EM 2005 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , the Norwegians defeated the Swedish team with Skip Peter Lindholm in the final and Vågberg became European champions.

In 2006 Vågberg took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Turin . The team took fifth place.

Vågberg is the brother-in-law of Olympic curling champion Pål Trulsen .
