Lars Winnerbäck

Lars Winnerbäck (* 19th October 1975 in Stockholm as Lars Mattias Nilsson ) is a Swedish singer and songwriter . He reads his texts exclusively in Swedish .

Career

Winnerbäck was born in Stockholm, but grew up in Linköping . At the age of 10 he got guitar lessons in the music school. As a teenager he was a singer in the punk band Snoddas . After graduating from school, he attended Nordiska Folkhögskolan in Kungälv to study Swedish folk songs. There was also a first demo tape entitled 3486 ord från Lars Winnerbäck . He got to know the successful punk rock musician Johan Johansson and decided, following his example, to start a solo career. Two friends founded the label Elvira and published his debut album Dans med svåra steg with it with simple means . From Linköping with a small label, he couldn't attract much attention, so he went to Stockholm. Johansson helped him to increase his fame with joint appearances and also produced Winnerbäck's second album Rusningstrafik himself . It was released in 1997 and made it to the bottom of the Swedish album charts .

Then he got a record deal from Universal . His third album Med solen i ögonen was produced more elaborately and went more towards pop music . The success was shown at number 13 in the charts. He toured with other well-known musicians in between releases, but in 1999 Kom was his fourth album in four years. It was as commercially successful as its predecessor, but this time it got a nomination for the national Grammis music award for album of the year and he won his first award for best songwriter. With the album song Kom ihåg mig he also had his first smaller single hit.

The Swede's breakthrough came in 2001 with the album Singel . Musically, he developed further in the direction of Bruce Springsteen or his compatriot Ulf Lundell and thus met with wide popularity. The album reached number 1 on the charts and stayed there for two weeks. As the best male pop / rock musician, he got his second grammar. He then put together an accompanying band with Hovet and released the album Söndermarken with them in 2003 . With this and the following studio albums he landed regularly on the album charts. But Söndermarken also contained three songs that made it into the top 10 of the single charts. It was his first platinum album and later even got double platinum.

Then he separated again from Hovet, who continued as an independent band for some time, and followed up with his next number one album in 2004 with Vatten under broarna . The pre-release single Elegi brought him his first number one position in the single charts. The song Stort liv , on which he worked again with Hovet, was another number one the following year and brought him single platinum.

For his 10th anniversary, Winnerbäck released his first best-of album in 2006, a double CD with 26 songs. Efter nattens bränder accumulated more than a year and a half in the charts over time and this album also went platinum.

For the first time after a two-year break, the next studio album Daugava was released in 2007 . It not only reached number 1 and double platinum, with the included duet Om du lämnade mig nu with Miss Li , it also had his biggest single hit. The song also reached number 1 and double platinum and stayed in the single charts for a full year. In addition, Winnerbäck was able to place himself in the charts in neighboring Norway for the first time with the album. With Over grensen - De beste 1996-2009 , a best-of album was then released especially for the neighboring country, which took number 3 in the Norwegian charts .

In the same year Tänk om jag ångrar mig och sen ångrar mig igen was released, his last double platinum album, with the fourth number-one single Jag får liksom ingen ordning . It was his last top hit in the singles charts and in the 2010s, with the advent of music streaming , especially in Sweden, he became mostly an album artist. Two more number one albums were released in 2013 with Hosianna and 2016 with Granit och morän , each of which stayed in the charts for over a year.

The live album Vi var där was his tenth number one album in 2017. In the same year, the film biography Ett slags liv by director Øystein Karlsen was published with actors Rolf Lassgård and musicians Melissa Horn and Per Gessle , with whom Winnerbäck had already worked.
