The Laserzwand , ( 2614  m above sea level ) is a mountain in the Lienz Dolomites and is located in the municipality of Tristach in East Tyrol . The summits are the Kleine Laserzwand (2,568 m) and the somewhat higher Schöttnerspitze, on which there is a small wooden cross and a summit book. The Kleine Laserzwand is a popular climbing peak.

The Laserzwand was the first goal of the alpine development after the Karlsbader Hut was built. In 1894, the mountaineer Karl Schöttner suggested climbing to the summit.

Increase opportunities

The normal route to the Laserzwand leads from the Karlsbader Hut to the north. The climb leads through the Laserzkar onto the broadly developed southern flank of the Laserzwand. Then the path climbs in serpentines over rocky steps to the Kleiner Laserzwand. The eastern Schöttnerspitze can be reached via an easy climbing path and is overlooked by the Red Tower .

In addition to the normal route, there are two climbing routes on the Kleine Laserzwand. From the Rudl-Eller-Weg there is the possibility to climb the Kleine Laserzwand over the iron edge or the Egerland edge. The iron edge was first secured in 1969 with Thenius hooks and is provided with bolts in the upper part. The iron edge shows difficulties up to the 4th degree. The neighboring Egerländerkante is also insured by Thenius hooks, but with a level of difficulty of 3+ it is slightly less difficult.
