Lasse Paakkonen (born July 8, 1986 in Raahe ) is a Finnish cross-country skier .

Career

Paakkonen has been taking part in competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de Ski since 2004 . Until 2008 he mainly competed in FIS races and the Scandinavian Cup . He ran his first World Cup race in November 2008 in Kuusamo , which he finished with 45th place in the sprint. In January 2009 he got his first World Cup points in Rybinsk with the 20th place in the sprint. In the 2009/10 season he won World Cup points in seven of eight races that took part. In March 2010 in Oslo he achieved eighth place in the sprint, his best placement in an individual World Cup race. He finished the season in 70th place in the overall World Cup ranking and 28th place in the sprint ranking. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he and Ville Nousiainen finished 10th in the team sprint. In the following season he could only get points in one World Cup race. He then took part again mainly in the Scandinavian Cup.
