The Lassitude Lake (from English lassitude , inertia, exhaustion ' ) is a 2.2 hectare , permanently frozen lake with an ice dome in the center in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . In the Framnes Mountains, it lies at the foot of the ice slopes of Rumdoodle Lake .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named him. It is named after the suffering of the expedition doctor Prone in the novel The Ascent of the Rum Doodle by the British writer William Ernest Bowman from 1956. The book is one of the most widely read works at Mawson Station .
