Last of the Living is a New Zealand low budget - horror film with elements of comedy and splatter film by Logan McMillian from 2008. The post-apocalyptic staging is McMillians first full-length feature film, based on a written by him and starring Ashleigh Southam history. For this film, McMillian was also responsible for the script, editing and production.
The German release date was June 18, 2009, although the film had been available on loan since May 20, 2009.

In a gloomy future scenario, an unknown, deadly virus is wiping out large parts of the population. The infected return as revenants - as so-called zombies - and transmit the epidemic through bites to the living, who in turn mutate and hunt people.
The three friends Morgan, Ash and Johnny lead a comfortable life and feel completely alone in the world. They enrich their dreary everyday life with drinking bouts and occasional changes of residence as well as with short trips to the deserted shopping centers. In doing so, they sometimes come across small groups of the undead , who mainly fight the narcissist Morgan and the musician Johnny. Ash, on the other hand, is a rather reluctant accountant.
One day, in an abandoned church, they meet the young pilot and scientist Stef and her father, an infected person whose transformation is still to come. The doomed man hands his daughter a vial with a blood sample that could save humanity if it were possible to hand over the sample to a team of scientists on an offshore island. Shortly afterwards, the house of God is overrun by creatures. However, the three friends and the researcher escape the monsters.
On the onward journey, the daring beauty persuades the trio to help her prepare for obtaining a cure . During a stopover, Johnny is attacked, infected and killed. Stef is also bitten, but later she flies Morgan and Ash to Stewart Island . While still in the air, the pilot, who has meanwhile mutated into a zombie, is "disposed of". After the crash landing, events soon rolled over. The research center is overwhelmed by the undead, the scientists killed. A similar fate happens to the arrogant Morgan on the said island. He degenerates into the living dead.
In one open end, Ash is the only survivor to flee the island. He finally reached the open sea with a small rowing boat when suddenly the mutated Morgan attacked him. In the fighting from which Ash emerges victorious, Ash loses the important blood sample in the ocean.
