Laszlo Berkeczy

Laszlo Berkeczy (born June 29, 1925 in Miercurea Ciuc , Romania ; † October 30, 2009 in Eschwege ) was a Romanian-German sculptor . He belonged to the Magyar minority in Romania .

life and work

After attending grammar school and subsequent teacher training, he studied painting and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest from 1947 to 1955 , and at the Institute for Fine Arts in Cluj-Napoca . Between the courses he worked as a teacher. 1955 to 1975 he worked in the porcelain factory IRIS in Cluj as a decorative normal. Since 1975 he has dedicated himself to sculpture. During this time he took part with his works in various exhibitions in Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest .

In 1985 Laszlo Berkeczy moved to Germany , where he exhibited his sculptures in Eschwege in 1985 and 1990 . Another exhibition followed in 1995 in Rapperswil SG on Lake Zurich ( Switzerland ). Since 1991 he has been a member of the Kassel Art Association.
