Latasha Byears (born August 12, 1973 in Memphis , Tennessee ) is an American basketball player .
Life
Byears went to school in Millington , Tennessee, and then to Arlington , Tennessee high school . After finishing school, she studied at DePaul University in Chicago , where she played basketball. In the WNBA she played as a professional basketball player for the clubs Sacramento Monarchs , Los Angeles Sparks , Washington Mystics and the Houston Comets . In 2001 and 2002 she won the championship of the WNBA with her team Los Angeles Sparks. In 2006 Byears played as a basketball player in Bulgaria for the club CSKA Sofia . In 2008 she received a contract in Leszno , Poland . Byears is openly gay .
In 2003 Byears faced a lawsuit for alleged sexual harassment in the United States. After the early end of the contract with the Sparks, she was able to resume her WNBA career only after a few years with the Mystics.
For several years she was also active for clubs in Europe.
