Laura Alonso Padín , also Laura Alonso (born January 2, 1976 in Vilagarcía de Arousa , Spain ) is a Spanish opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Laura Alonso Padín first studied violin before receiving a scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and continuing her training in singing at the Karlsruhe University of Music . Her teachers included Aldo Baldin , Anna Reynolds , Jean Cox and Hartmut Höll . She currently lives in Berlin and continues her musical training under Paola Leolini in Rome.

Artistic career

Laura Alonso Padín has sung in many renowned opera houses and given concerts with the great orchestras and conductors of contemporary music life. In addition to many important European opera and concert halls, she also sang in the USA, Asia and in Arab countries. At the age of 23 she became a member of the Aalto Theater in Essen . For her achievements she received the award as the best young artist of the Aalto Theater. Her most recent projects include the interpretation of Giulia in The Silk Head by Rossini , which she gave during a European tour with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra under the musical direction of Attilio Cremonesi.

In addition to all the great soprano roles in the operas by Bellini , Rossini , Donizetti , Puccini and Verdi , her repertoire also includes German and French opera literature such as Mozart, Richard Strauss or Meyerbeer and Offenbach and extends to Alban Berg's Lulu , Claude Debussy's Pelléas and Mélisande or Francis Poulenc's Dialogue des Carmélites . In 2019 she sang again Violetta from La Traviata, as well as Leonora (Il Trovatore), Aida, Tosca, Turandot (leading role) and had many performances of Madama Butterfly in Morelia (Mexico), in Santiago de Compostela and in many other cities in Spain.

In addition to her career as an opera singer, she has also made a name for herself as a lieder singer. Her repertoire of songs includes compositions by Schumann, Schubert, Alban Berg, Leo Delibes, Reynaldo Hahn, Maurice Ravel, Henri Duparc and the Italians Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari, Franco Alfano, Leoncavallo and Respighi.
