José Laureano Pineda Ugarte

José Laureano Pineda Ugarte (born July 4, 1802 in Potosí ( Rivas ); † September 17, 1853 ) was Director Supremo of Nicaragua from May 5 to August 11, 1851 and from November 11, 1851 to April 1, 1853 .

Life

José Laureano Pineda married Dolores Sacasa Méndez. He studied law in León and worked as a lawyer. José Laureano Pineda was a member of the Partido Democrático (Nicaragua) in Santiago de los Caballeros de León .

He was Chairman of the Tribunal and edited the Criminal Code of 1837. As Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of 1848, he fronted a military coup. On March 14, 1851, José Laureano Pineda was elected Supremo Director .

Since he did not take office, Justo Abaunza y Muñoz de Avilés was from April 1, 1851 to May 5, 1851 in this office in León.

He made a contract with the company of Cornelius Vanderbilt for the transfer to colonize California . In 1851, José Laureano Pineda announced that he would move the seat of government from León to Managua. On August 5, 1851, José Trinidad Muñoz Fernández and José Laureano Pineda went with his cabinet from Léon to Honduras and returned to Nicaragua on November 2, 1851. In Granada , José Francisco de Montenegro and on August 11, 1851 José de Jesús Alfaro took over the post of Supremo Director. During this time, three people claimed the position of Director Supremo for themselves: Pineda in exile in Honduras, José Francisco del Montenegro in Granada and Justo Abaunza y Muñoz de Avilés in León. Francisco Castellón Sanabria attributed this to the intrigues of José Jorge Viteri y Ungo .

On February 15, 1852, the cabinet of José Laureano Pineda declared Managua the official seat of government.
