Laurence Thoms (born March 26, 1980 in Suva ) is a Fijian ski racer . He took part in the 2002 Winter Olympics for the Fiji Islands .

Career

He qualified for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and wrote Fijian Olympic history because he was only the second Fijian to qualify for the Winter Olympics after the cross-country skier Rusiate Rogoyawa . With his start in the giant slalom on February 21, 2002, he also made history because he was the first Fijian ski racer to take part in the Winter Olympics. He finished the competition in 52nd place. He also started in the slalom, but in this competition he was eliminated in the first run. His best result in an FIS race was on September 12, 2001 in Cardrona . He finished the slalom competition in twelfth place.
