Laurence Tubiana (* 1951 in Oran , then part of France , now Algeria ) is a French economist. She was the French negotiator at the UN climate conference in Paris in 2015 . She heads the European Climate Foundation .

Life

Laurence Tubiana was born in 1951 in Oran, then part of France. She came to Paris at the age of eleven, studied at Sciences Po , an elite university, and did a doctorate in economics.

She has held the professorship for sustainable development at Sciences Po in Paris since 2003 and has also taught at Columbia University in New York . She has been the special envoy for the French Foreign Ministry since 2014 .

From 1997 to 2002 she was special advisor to French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin ( PS ) on environmental issues.

Tubiana represented non-governmental organizations at the World Bank headquarters . She founded the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) in Paris. She is a member of the Advisory Councils of the Government of India and the Government of the People's Republic of China on Sustainable Development.
