Laurene Powell Jobs (born November 6, 1963 in West Milford , New Jersey ) is an American entrepreneur .

Life

Laurene Powell Jobs grew up in her native West Milford, New Jersey . She studied economics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Stanford Graduate School of Business . After graduating, she married the founder of 1991 Apple , Steve Jobs , who died 5 October 2011 from cancer.

In 2002 she founded her first own company, Emerson Collective , which, as a kind of private foundation, supports financially disadvantaged schoolchildren and students; In 2017, Emerson Collective also acquired a majority stake in The Atlantic magazine . In 2003 she was also co-founder of Terravera, a raw material supplier for the food industry.
