Laurent Gounelle (born August 10, 1966 ) is a French writer .

Life

Gounelle studied at the University of Paris-Dauphine Economics . After graduating from the Sorbonne in 1988 , he worked for a short time as an auditor.

Due to his primary career desire to become a psychiatrist , he quit his job and studied sociology and philosophy at the University of California, Santa Cruz , California . He then made several trips through the United States of America , Europe and Asia in order to devote himself to further studies in neuroscience , shamanism , psychology , the humanities and eastern wisdom.

After returning to France, he worked as a lecturer in personal development at the University of Clermont-Ferrand and as a freelance advisor on human relationships. His first book, The Man Who Wanted to Be Happy, was published in 2008 and sold over 225,000 copies in France by 2010.

Laurent Gounelle now lives in Paris with his wife and two daughters .
