Laurent Carl Siebenmann (sometimes cited as Laurence Siebenmann ; * 1939 in Toronto ) is a French-Canadian mathematician who deals with topology .

Siebenmann received his doctorate in 1965 from Princeton University under John Milnor ( The Obstruction to Finding a Boundary for an Open Manifold of Dimension Greater than Five ). He is a professor at the University of Paris-South in Orsay .

Siebenmann is known for his work with Robion Kirby in the early 1970s on the classification and determination of obstructions for PL structures on topological manifolds.

His PhD students include Michel Boileau , Francis Bonahon , Albert Fathi and Jean-Pierre Otal .

He is a fellow of the American Mathematical Society .
