Lawrence Whitney
Lawrence Whitney ( Lawrence Atwood "Larry" Whitney ; born February 2, 1891 in Millbury , Massachusetts , † April 24, 1941 in Boston ) was an American shot putter .
In 1912 he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Stockholm with a width of 13.93 m behind his compatriots Pat McDonald (15.34 m) and Ralph Rose (15.25 m). He came fourth in the two-handed shot put and 20th in the discus throw .
The following year he was US champion and in 1914 he set his personal best with 14.64 m.
Lawrence Whitney was a graduate of Dartmouth College .
