Lawson Robertson
Lawson Robertson ( Lawson N. "Robbie" Robertson ; born September 24, 1883 in Aberdeen , Scotland , † January 22, 1951 in Philadelphia ) was an American athlete and coach .
At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis, he won bronze in the standing vault and was sixth in the 100-meter run . Over 60 m he was eliminated in the preliminary run.
In 1906 he became US indoor champion over 300 yards . At the Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens he won silver in the standing vault and bronze in the standing long jump . Over 100 m and in the pentathlon he was fifth. He failed over 400 m in the lead.
In 1908 he reached the semi-finals over 100 m at the Olympic Games in London . Over 200 m and in the standing vault, he did not get beyond the preliminary round.
Lawson Robertson started for the Irish American Athletic Club, for which he worked as a coach from 1909. From 1916 to 1947 he was in charge of the track and field team at the University of Pennsylvania . In 1924 in Paris , 1928 in Amsterdam , 1932 in Los Angeles and 1936 in Berlin , he was the head coach of the US athletics selection.
