Leśniewo (puck)

Leśniewo ( German Leßnau ) is a village in the rural municipality of Puck ( Putzig ) in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship .

Geographical location

The village is located in the historical region of West Prussia , west of the Gdansk Bay , about twelve kilometers north of the city Wejherowo ( New Town in West Prussia ) and fifty kilometers north-northwest of Gdansk .

history

At the end of the 16th century the place was called Neu-Mechow , around 1661 it was called Lisnewo . In 1785 Lessnow or Lesnau is referred to as a royal leasehold with 15 fireplaces (households). In 1850, Leßnau is called a hereditary lease. In 1871 the farming village of Lessnau had 560 inhabitants who lived in 107 households and were spread over 57 residential buildings.

Until 1919 the village belonged to Lessnau county Puck in the administrative district of Gdansk the province of West Prussia of the German Reich .

After the end of the First World War , the district area with the village of Leßnau had to be ceded to Poland due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty for the purpose of establishing the Polish Corridor , with effect from January 20, 1920 and without a referendum. Due to the invasion of Poland in 1939, the area was annexed by the German Reich in violation of international law and was assigned to the Reichsgau Danzig-West Prussia .

Towards the end of the Second World War , the Red Army occupied the district in the spring of 1945 . Unless the German residents had fled, they were expelled from Leßnau in the following period .
