Khalif Diouf (born April 6, 1989 in New York ), better known under the stage name Le1f , is an American rapper from New York. He runs the hip-hop label Camp & Street , which is an offshoot of Greedhead Music . He is known for being an openly gay rapper and for using unorthodox production styles.

biography

Diouf was born in Manhattan . He studied ballet and modern dance , earned an honors in modern dance, and eventually returned to his hometown to become a rapper.

Career

While he was initially only known for producing songs like the debut single Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell for the hip-hop group Das Racist , he later became known as a solo artist with the release of his debut mixtape Dark York in April 2012. His main single Wut , which he produced with 5kinAndBon5, gained attention for the project and was filmed as a music video in June 2012.

In November 2012 Diouf and Mykki Blanco produced the song Fucking the DJ from his mixtape Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince / ss . A little later in the same month, Diouf released a joint EP with Boody , which was named Liquid . This was followed by a video for the song Soda . His second mixtape Fly Zone was received positively by critics in January 2013. He later also released a video for the single Spa Day . Guests like Spank Rock , DonChristian and Kitty could be seen on the mixtape .

In September 2013, Diouf released his third mixtape Tree House , which later featured a music video for the second single Hush Bb .

In February 2013, Terrible Records announced a five-song project called Hey , which was finally released on May 11, 2014. On March 13, 2014, Diouf made his television debut with an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman .

His first album Riot Boi was released in November 2015.
